People Who Help Us - Doctors.

P1 had two visitors today to help us learn about how Doctors can help us.

Eva brought her dad Dr David McCormick, a doctor in the hospital and Reuben brought his mum Dr Hannah Chapman to talk about being a GP.

Eva, very proud of her dad, a past pupil of APS!

We dressed up in 'Scrubs'.

We learned about equipment doctors use and what they are used for.

We learned how to bandage a sore arm.

Doctors use sterile gloves to keep patients and staff safe.

Sometimes doctors need to test all sorts of things!

Reuben's mum came to Academy too! She showed us how to use a stethoscope to listen to our heartbeat.

We looked at x-ray pictures and worked out which part of the body they belonged to.

We learned how doctors give medicine in an injection.

We did an experiment with glitter to show how germs spread

The glitter transferred from one person to the other just by touching hands.

Three people were covered in glitter 'germs'.

We discovered we had to use soap and water to get rid of all the glitter, (germs).
