Champions

For the second year running Academy Primary School have finished in the top 4 of 20 teams in the Lisburn League. The top 4 sides then traditionally play against each other in the play offs. Last year was the school's first venture in this regional league and they finished joint runners up. Having been successful on numerous occasions in both League and Cup ventures in the South Down area the school took the decision to play in the Lisburn League several years ago.

This year they went one better finishing as joint champions. On Thursday the team completed their successful campaign in this year’s play offs with a win against Pond Park and two draws against Ballymacash and Downshire.

The boys completed a successful league campaign losing just one match by 1-0, which was one of two goals conceded all year.

School Principal, Stephen Moore, spoke of his delight saying “ The boys have been superb throughout and I expect more to come from this team in the remaining cup competitions,” He went on to praise the other three teams for their competiveness and sportsmanship and paid tribute to the organisers.
