The (past and present) children, staff and governors of Academy PS had a great day celebrating the 40th anniversary of our school. We all dressed up in our 70s gear and opened the doors of our school to the community. Well over one hundred former pupils, parents and staff attended and everyone had a great morning perusing old photos and reminiscing about days gone by. It was lovely to see former Principal, Mr George Smyth and previous Vice Principals, Mrs Wallace, Mr Stevenson and Mrs Stitt. It was also great to have former staff members attend the event - Mrs Adamson, Mrs Woods, Mrs Webb, Miss Cole, Mrs Brakenridge, Mrs Bell, Mrs Morrow, Mrs Johnston, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Cranston and Mrs Edmonds.
As longest serving member of staff, Mrs Hilman cut the cake along with our oldest pupil (Jasmine Haider) and our youngest pupil (Evie Mc Coy).
Rev. James Hyndman then conducted a special assembly and we rounded the day off with an ABBA disco with DJ Fegan.
